SynthPop is Dead (SynthPop unTribute)
** UPDATE 28May07 - I've received some e-mails about a SynthPop is Dead sequel. I will definitely not do a sequel, as that would be an insult to the first, which is already a classic masterpiece. I may have missed some bands (Alphaville, Cause & Effect), but you get the idea. They all sound the same anyway.
My next video will focus on a very specific member of a very specific band. That's all I can say for now. It's coming soon..
** UPDATE 21May07 - You people are nuts!! To those of you who requested an MP3 of the track, you can find it at:

I was bored this weekend and had an idea for a toungue-in-cheek " untribute to SynthPop. I love SynthPop but there are harsh realities the genre is facing, lol.
At first, I was just going to record a 1 minute song without vocals but the idea got the better of me and I ended up writing a song and doing vocals, mixing, using lots of photos, etc.
I would like to give credit to the local bands in this piece:
1) Brand New Idol - An electronic band I used to be in. Our music was really cool and flirted w/ various styles, but in the end I felt like I couldn't commit to it anymore. They're still together and working on great things and pushing the genre outside its current envelope. You can find them on MySpace and they have a show on Memorial Day Weekend 2007 in CT.
2) Cosmicity - Another unsigned act that I enjoyed for a few years, but they disbanded. They had really nice melodies.
3) The Mystic Underground - A band we used to play shows with here & there. They're still together as of 2006. You can find them on MySpace as well. They're definitely improving with time.
4) Platform One - Nigel's Goth-esque band before he joined Brand New Idol. You can still find Platform One songs on My*Space.
Technical/Nerd Notes:
* Arrangement, lyrics, and all vocals by myself
* Photos courtesy of the information superhighway!
I know I suck, but please feel free to tell me I suck anyway!
